Lynx Golf has added Danny Poulter, brother of Ryder Cup hero Ian, to its stable of brand ambassadors for 2016.

PGA Professional Danny is being supported by Lynx as he embarks on an exciting bid to gain a full European Tour card – which narrowly eluded his grasp 15 years ago.

Danny’s target of reaching Qualifying School in 2017 begins this year in the PGA East region, where he’s competing in Order of Merit tournaments, and mini tour events as well as selected competitions on the EuroPro Tour and Challenge Tour.

Having been fitted with clubs including a Lynx Parallax driver and Tour Blade irons at Lynx’s state-of-the-art custom fitting centre in Weybridge, Surrey, Danny recorded a respectable 9th place in his first tournament of the year – a Thomson Tour event at Panshanger GC.

Welcoming Danny alongside its ambassadors such as Dame Laura Davies and Nick Dougherty, Lynx Golf UK’s co-owner, Stephanie Zinser, said: “We’re delighted to be helping Danny to fulfil his ambitions. He’s a very good golfer who put aspirations of a Tour career on hold and dedicated himself to being a well-respected PGA Professional and coach in order to bring up a young family.

“When we met him and he explained that he wanted another crack to join his brother Ian in the elite ranks, we had no hesitation in backing him. He has the game and the determination to make it to Tour Qualifying School and we hope he goes on to great things.”

At the age of 42, Danny knows that gaining a European Tour ranking will not be easy. But having spent over 20 years working successfully in all parts of the golf industry – from coaching, to retail and even golf magazine publishing – he still has a massive determination to tee it up on tour.

Danny said: “I can’t thank Stephanie and Steve (Elford) at Lynx Golf enough for their support. I’m really enjoying playing with their clubs and just having their backing and belief in me is fantastic.

“I’m under no illusion just how tough 2016 is going to be, but I do love a challenge. If I put half as much determination and passion into my playing as I have into the rest of my golf career, then I’ll be fine.

“I’m playing better quality golf now than I was 10 or 12 years ago. I’m more mature, my family life is settled, and I think that although I had the ability and the game first time round I just wasn’t grown up enough to make it on tour.”

Danny played on the Challenge Tour from 2001-2005, where he featured in events such as the Volvo Finnish Open and Tusker Kenya Open.

In 2001, he narrowly missed out on making it to the Qualifying School final stages by just one shot, in the year fellow Lynx ambassador Nick Dougherty gained his card.

Lynx is dedicated to supporting ‘green grass’ Pro shop business and to offering exceptional equipment for use by golfers at all skill levels.

It has a comprehensive Ladies range, underpinning its commitment to women’s golf and brings its new Junior range this coming season, 2016.

Its latest entry-level Predator range is already proving popular and includes a fully-adjustable driver for just £139 RRP.
