Oceânico Group has submitted a bid to become the host venue for the 2018 Ryder Cup Match. The company responsible for seven courses in the Algarve has long been committed to championship golf and the bid for the Ryder Cup is a significant step for the Oceânico Group. With its long term player associations and hosting of the European Tour’s Portugal Masters, Oceânico will look to bring the showcase event on the World of Golf’s calendar to the shores of the Algarve.

The Oceânico Victoria course is one of the seven courses in the Oceânico portfolio and is regarded as one of the finest in Europe featuring regularly on European top 100 ranking lists. The course itself has hosted some of the very finest in Europe, who have competed in the Portugal Masters over the last three years. Last year’s winner and Ryder Cup star Lee Westwood is a regular visitor to the region and his Ryder Cup partner Darren Clarke is the resident tour pro at Oceânico.

Darren Clarke, hero of the last Ryder Cup to be played in Europe is the resident tour professional and a regular down to the Oceânico group’s seven golf courses.
“The Algarve and specifically Vilamoura is a great venue for the Ryder Cup. Golfers have been coming down and enjoying the facilities and atmosphere here for years and it would be great to see a Ryder Cup played around the Oceânico Victoria course,” commented the popular Irishman.
