Mel Reid bags sponsorship deal with Aggreko

2.12pm 21st January 2021 - Sponsorship & Events

Aggreko, the world’s leading provider of mobile and modular power solutions, has renewed its sponsorship of ladies tour professional Mel Reid.

A six-time winner on the Ladies European Tour, a three-time Solheim Cup player, and vice-captain of the winning European team at the 2019 Solheim Cup, Reid has been an Aggreko ambassador for the past two years.

After a successful 2020, which included winning her first LPGA Tour event at the ShopRite LGPA Classic, Reid, 33, will be representing Aggreko throughout 2021’s schedule of international events.

With 2021 set to be an exciting year for sport, Aggreko will be providing temporary power to international sporting events throughout the year. Notably, it is due to deliver temporary power for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, powering 43 competitive venues, the Athlete Village and the International Broadcast Centre, ensuring reliable power and uninterrupted television broadcasts to the event’s millions of global viewers. Golf made a return to the Olympic schedule in 2016 and will also be included in this year’s Games, where Reid is one of the hopefuls for Team GB’s golf team.

Decarbonisation is increasingly on the minds of the organisers of large sporting events. Aggreko is similarly working to achieve net-zero carbon emissions from its operations by 2050. This includes developing new, lower-carbon technologies such as biofuels and battery storage systems for the sporting events which it powers.

Derby-born Reid, who now lives in Florida and is ranked 39th in the world, said: “I’m excited to continue my partnership with Aggreko in 2021 – it’s not often you get to work with a business that reflects your own priorities. I feel particularly proud to be representing a brand that has been focusing on bringing sustainability to the sporting world. I’m looking forward to seeing what 2021 brings, and through Aggreko’s power, inviting the rest of the world to do the same.”

Robert Wells, Managing Director of Aggreko Events Services, said: “We have now worked with Mel for almost two years and are delighted to continue our relationship with her throughout 2021. Not only is Mel a gifted golfer, she is also a hard-working, genuine person and fully embodies the values that Aggreko itself upholds. We are excited to support her as she continues to make a huge impact on the golfing and wider sporting world.”
