Lee Westwood and Jamega Pro Golf Tours team up

5.00pm 14th March 2014 - Sponsorship & Events

Jamega4Lee Westwood Golf Tour members are to compete for starting places on the professional Jamega Pro Golf Tour as part of an exciting new partnership between the two.

The Jamega Pro Golf Tour, the number one developmental golf tour in the UK, has 24 places available across its men and ladies tours for the leading order of merit players on the Lee Westwood Golf Tour, which has become the largest amateur tour of its kind since being launched last year.

“We are constantly looking for opportunities to help benefit talented young golfers in the UK,” said Lee Westwood Golf Tour manager Stuart Blair. “It is fantastic that we can now offer our tour members a pathway to the professional game.”

The Jamega Pro Golf Tour was established in 2004 as a player-led professional tour and hosts more than 20 events per year. The field sizes average more than 100 players, while more than £200,000 is handed out in prize money annually.

“Everyone at the Jamega Pro Golf Tour is delighted to join forces with the Lee Westwood Golf Tour,” said Richard Law, Director and founder at the Jamega Pro Golf Tour. “This will give young players the opportunity to gain invaluable experience and develop their talent on the professional stage.”

The Lee Westwood Golf Tour gives up-and-coming players the chance to compete in a national competition without a handicap ballot, providing fantastic golf courses to compete on and also preparing players for a life on tour.

“The partnership is a great fit as we share the philosophy of producing a tour experience to benefit golfers in learning how to perform under competitive conditions,” said Lee Westwood Golf General Manager Gavin Hamlyn. “We believe the Lee Westwood Golf Tour is a fine breeding ground for any future European Tour Player.

“Lee Westwood is planning to attend the National finals this year, while the overall tour winner will get the opportunity to visit Lee’s GolfSchool in Florida. That, coupled with Jamega Pro Golf Tour places being up for grabs, means there is a lot to play for. It is exciting for all involved.”
