Essex amateur Jack Brown has won a £10,000 sponsorship contract with the Jenahura Tour Academy after impressing the player management company’s team with his performances and general progress in 2019.

Jack Brown won the South of England Links Championship in August

Brown, who is a member at Chelmsford Golf Club, won the South East of England Links Championship played over four rounds at Royal Cinque Ports and Royal St George’s in August.

The 21-year-old joined the Jenahura Tour Academy in April, and has since received valuable advice from JTA’s team of experts, including Andrew Coltart, Stefan Vossen (Core Clinics), David Kearney, Chris Sells (StrokeAverage.com), Billy Foster, Lee Cox and world renowned performance coach Dave Alred. Former Walker Cup star Jamie Elson has also been mentoring Brown in conjunction with his swing coach Paul Holland.

Brown was presented with a cheque for £10,000 by Jenahura’s tour ambassador Richard McEvoy and Martyn Norris, managing director of the Jenahura Group, in recognition of his hard work throughout the season (pictured).

Norris said: “It gives us great pleasure to offer Jack a sponsorship and management contract when he turns professional. It was an incredibly difficult decision, but Jack epitomises the very reason we created our Tour Academy. He has come on leaps and bounds since joining in April. He has worked incredibly hard. His attitude, application and unwavering enthusiasm to improve has been great to watch, and he is a worthy recipient of our support.

“We made a promise at the beginning of the year to offer a £10,000 sponsorship and management contract to at least one member of the JTA and we are delighted to support hard working youngsters like Jack. We have also learned a great deal this year since we launched the academy in April, and have some exciting plans for 2020 that we will announce in January.”

Brown said: “I’m buzzing! This is a great way to finish the year. I cannot thank Jenahura and the Jenahura Tour Academy enough for all the support they have given me this year. I’m going to play a few events as an amateur on the Portugal Pro Golf Tour early in 2020 and then try and earn a category on the EuroPro Tour in April.”
