7.02am 24th February 2009 - Sponsorship & Events

GolfBuddy, one of the world’s best-selling handheld golf GPS systems, has become a corporate partner and the ‘Official Handheld GPS Rangefinder’ of the PGAs of Europe.

Under a three-year sponsorship agreement, GolfBuddy Europe Limited will work with the PGAs of Europe on a number of exciting joint marketing initiatives which will promote GolfBuddy to PGA members and golfers across Europe.

The partnership will also see GolfBuddy playing an active role at several high-profile PGAs of Europe exhibitions, conferences, seminars and events.

John Ennis, general manager of GolfBuddy in Europe, said, “We are delighted to become the ‘Official Handheld GPS Rangefinder of the PGAs of Europe’ and to be announced as one of their corporate partners. I have great admiration for the Association and their significant geographic spread

“This underlines how the golf GPS market is rapidly becoming part of the fabric of golf at the top level as well as in the amateur game. Working directly with the PGAs of Europe and its members will help to introduce GolfBuddy to influential industry contacts across Europe and demonstrate how handheld GPS rangefinders enable golfers to play faster and smarter.”

GolfBuddy launched in Europe in January from its headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, and is already enjoying impressive sales. In the USA, the GPS rangefinder – which gives golfers free download access to thousands of golf courses around the globe – has already posted a significant market share.

GolfBuddy’s course library (Over 14,000 in the U.S.A, and over 20,000 worldwide) continues to expand at a significant rate through the GolfBuddy huge team of surveyors (both professional golfers and better amateurs) and information for more than 5,000 European and African courses will be available for download by the end of 2009.

Crucially, all the global courses can be downloaded at no subscription or annual cost.

Announcing the partnership, Ian Randell, chief executive of the PGAs of Europe, commented, “Most of our PGAs have been early uptakers of GPS technology and we are delighted to welcome GolfBuddy to our group of corporate partners. They are one of the leaders in their field globally and are building a very strong European market presence.

“We recognise the massive growth in popularity of GPS rangefinders and the partnership will give our 30 European Member Countries and six International Members a greater awareness of the benefits of golf GPS.”
