England Golf has announced that its 2026 Ladies European Tour Access Series tournament will be renamed the Women’s English Open, marking a significant step in the organisation’s long-term ambition to establish the event on the Ladies European Tour.

The rebranding reflects England Golf’s commitment to creating a flagship women’s professional event that provides enhanced competitive opportunities for players while raising the profile of women’s golf in England.

By strengthening the event’s identity and stature, England Golf aims to create a pathway towards full inclusion on the Ladies European Tour Access Series in the near future.

The championship, which is being played at The Manchester Golf Club on 8-10 July, is expected to attract leading talent from across Europe while providing valuable opportunities for English players to compete at a high level on home soil for an increased prize fund of €80,000, one of the highest on the LETAS schedule.

Jeremy Tomlinson, Group CEO of England Golf, said: “This announcement represents a significant and exciting step forward for the women’s game in England, creating greater visibility and, importantly, more meaningful playing opportunities for our elite female golfers.

“It builds on the momentum of the recent English Open announcement and our strengthened partnership with the DP World Tour, reflecting a clear, aligned commitment to elevating the competitive pathway.

“By working closely with Ladies European Tour, we are not only bringing world-class golf back to England, but also ensuring that our most talented women have the platforms they need to compete, develop and succeed at the highest level.”

Tom Phillips, Chief Executive of the Ladies European Tour, said: “We are delighted that England Golf has launched a new era for the Women’s English Open, taking place on the LET Access Series next month and are excited about the event’s long-term potential.

“We are grateful to England Golf for their ambition and look forward to working together to ensure that the Women’s English Open becomes a standout, sustainable tournament on the Ladies European Tour schedule.”
