ECCO’s Eric van Rooyen makes giant strides to secure first PGA Tour win

2.32pm 9th August 2021 - Sponsorship & Events

ECCO GOLF staff player Erik van Rooyen won his first PGA Tour title at the Barracuda Championship after a brilliant final round at Tahoe Mountain Club’s Old Greenwood Course that included six birdies and an eagle.

Wearing ECCO Golf’s BIOM H4 shoes, the 31-ear0ld South African scored 16 points in his final round to finish on 50 points for 72 holes – five points clear of the chasing pack. With this win, van Rooyen jumps 61 places in the FedExCup standings, to 78th and secures a spot in next season’s PGA Championship and this season’s Fedex Cup playoffs

Speaking about his maiden title in the US, van Rooyen said: “This means everything, I’ve got big dreams and aspirations, and winning on the PGA Tour was certainly part of that. To win here this week, under the conditions, you know, the pressure that I was under, I’m going to take so much confidence from this. I am over the moon.”

Jesper Thuen, responsible for sponsorship at ECCO GOLF, said: “We are so pleased to see Erik take home his first PGA Tour title. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed being a part of his meteoric rise over the last few years, and to see him start to realise his potential in the US and claim victory on the PGA Tour is absolutely brilliant. We can’t wait to see Erik flourish in the USA, and we’re certain that this is only the beginning of something great.”

The BIOM H4 is ECCO Golf’s flagship hybrid model that features an all-new MTN GRIP outsole, which includes three sections to provide the ideal blend of traction, stability, and rotational support. Meanwhile, wrapping around the foot from the outsole to the midsole, the T.PU element on the side of the shoe enhances stability to deliver a finely-tuned balance of cushioning and rebound, to ensure dynamic comfort.

A waterproof GORE-TEX construction keeps feet dry and comfortable in all conditions, while the shoe also features BIOM 2.0 last technology which offers a modern, updated look and feel, as well as BIOM NATURAL MOTION technology that enables the foot to move naturally, close to the ground, and forms like a second skin around the foot.
