The 2021 champion Billy Horschel and Major winner Matt Fitzpatrick are the latest stars to join the BMW PGA Championship field, coinciding with the news that Saturday Ticket+ and General Admission tickets for the Rolex Series event are now sold out.
Horschel and Fitzpatrick will join defending champion Shane Lowry and World Number Two and Three, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm, at the iconic Wentworth Club from September 12-17, with the remaining tickets selling fast at etg.golf/bmwpga
Horschel entered the history books with his first Rolex Series win two years ago, becoming just the second player from America to triumph at the BMW PGA Championship, after the legendary Arnold Palmer.
The seven-time PGA TOUR winner has an enviable record at the event, finishing tied fourth on his debut in 2019 and tied ninth last season. He is set to play back to back events in Europe in September, teeing it up in the Horizon Irish Open the week before the BMW PGA Championship.
Horschel said: “Winning the BMW PGA Championship in 2021 was a tremendous honour for me. I said at the time that it was a tournament I had set my sights on winning, and after experiencing the incredible atmosphere at Wentworth Club a few times now, I can’t wait to get back and compete for the title again this season.”
Fitzpatrick is set to lead the home charge at Wentworth Club, after becoming England’s most recent Major champion when he lifted the U.S. Open trophy last season for his eighth DP World Tour win.
The World Number Nine is also bidding for a second Rolex Series title to add to his 2020 DP World Tour Championship victory, at a venue where he has recorded four previous top 20 finishes.
Fitzpatrick said: “As an English player, the BMW PGA Championship is always a special tournament. It’s an event that’s marked in my calendar every year, as a Rolex Series event at a historic venue, but particularly because of the opportunity to play in front of such passionate home fans.”
The BMW PGA Championship Festival of Golf takes place just outside central London, attracting more than 100,000 spectators each year, with the world class action inside the ropes set to be complemented by live entertainment on the Showstage from headline acts including Jax Jones, Rudimental and the Wombats, and an unrivalled atmosphere in the vibrant Spectator Village.
The G4D TOUR @ BMW PGA Championship will take place at the start of the week, with some of the best golfers with a disability competing for the penultimate G4D Tour title on the iconic West Course on Monday September 11 and Tuesday September 12.
That is followed by the star-studded Wednesday Celebrity Pro-Am which will bring together global celebrities – including Hollywood A-lister Tom Holland, football superstar Gareth Bale and England cricketers James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Ben Stokes – with some of golf’s most famous players in a fun-filled curtain raiser to the main event, the BMW PGA Championship, which tees off on Thursday September 14.
BMW group owners will once again receive preferred parking benefits, while park & ride and shuttle services from local train stations will be available free of charge to all spectators.
General admission tickets are now sold out for Saturday and extremely limited on Sunday, while various Premium Experience and Ticket+ package options are also sold out.
