Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnson has received the backing of two new sponsors as he makes his to return to competitive action at this week’s South African Open on the DP World Tour following a two-year absence through injury.

The 34-year-old Londoner has played just once on tour since the Portugal Masters in November 2021 after suffering a thumb injury that required multiple operations. Ranked 174th in the world at that time, he returns to the DP World Tour this week ranked 1,920th and keen to re-establish a career that saw him win the Spanish Open in 2016 and reach a career high 74th in the OWGR.

To help him do just that, Johnston has welcomed the support of player management company Jenahura, which, as well as sponsoring the player directly, has also brokered a sponsorship deal with Gaucho Restaurants, a chain of Argentinian steakhouses that has a dozen branches in cities throughout the UK.

Jenahura’s logo will be featured on Johnson’s tour bag, while Gaucho branding will appear on the left sleeve of his apparel for the 2024 DP World Tour campaign.

Jenahura has been investing, managing and supporting a talented team of professional golfers for almost ten years and in 2024 will celebrate 20 years delivering exceptional golf experiences at some of the world’s most iconic venues. Martyn Norris, Managing Director at Jenahura, commented: “We are very excited to be sponsoring Andrew. He is an exceptional talent who has battled back from adversity and injury, and I truly believe he can fulfil his undoubted potential and achieve great things as a world class tournament professional golfer. Above all, he is a terrific guy and is a perfect brand ambassador for Jenahura.”

Martin William,s CEO of Gaucho, said: “This is a perfect partnership – Andrew is the epitome of professionalism, personality, quality and, of course, beef! We look forward to having a lot of fun together with Beef and his fans over the coming season.”

Johnston said: “It’s been a tough few years and I am delighted that Jenahura is prepared to sponsor me and help me get my career back on track. I’ve been working really hard and have assembled a great team of people to put me on the right road to achieving my goals.”
