American Golf-UK’s Women In Golf Day is now well established as an annual fixture. This year was the third such event and it repeated the phenomenal success of last year’s event with over 2100 ladies attending the day.
Staged at all 19 private, resort and daily fee golf courses operated by American Golf-UK in England, Women In Golf Day is designed to introduce golf to women in a fun, non-intimidating environment and is open to women of all ages and skill levels. In addition to golf instructional clinics taught by American Golf professionals, Women In Golf Day activities included golf etiquette lessons, putting contests, luncheons and refreshments, raffles and other exciting events custom-designed by each participating course.
While all activities were free of charge, American Golf was delighted to continue its support of Marie Curie Cancer Care by running fun competitions and giving participants the opportunity to support the charity in its ever-increasing battle against cancer. Over £1,500 was raised for the charity.
Women In Golf Day U.K. sponsors include Brown Brothers of Australia, Fade, Hildon Water, Pierre Lang, Vantage and “Women and Golf” magazine. Next year’s Women In Golf Day will take place on Saturday, 28th April and the event will be repeated at American Golf Corporation courses in the U.S. on 20th May 2000 when 20,000 women are expected to take part.
American Golf-UK intends to continue its commitment to new and established lady golfers by running follow-up days at different locations throughout the year, details of which will be announced shortly.
Since last year’s event, American Golf-UK has continued its expansion programme with the acquisition of three more courses in Cambridgeshire and Surrey. The company is now the largest operator of golf facilities in the U.K. and employs 1,000 men and women nation wide. It is part of American Golf Corporation, the world’s largest golf course operator, based in California, with 325 courses.
