Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), the master developer of tourism, cultural, and residential destinations in Abu Dhabi including Saadiyat Island and its stunning Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, has announced Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) as the new title sponsor of the Saadiyat Beach Classic 2011, hosted by Gary Player.

The new partnership further establishes the event as one of the most popular and prestigious occasions in the sporting and social calendar in Abu Dhabi, following a hugely successful inaugural event which raised AED 1.2m for charity to mark the opening of the Arabian Gulf’s first and only beachfront golf course.

Golfing icon, grand slam winner and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club course designer, Gary player, will once again host an impressive field of renowned personalities from the worlds of sports, entertainment and business on his masterpiece, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, on 24th January 2011. The funds raised will go to local children’s charities including Emirates Autism Centre and Abilities Centre for Special Needs, as well as The Player Foundation.

Speaking on the new partnership, Ala’a Eraiqat, Chief Executive of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank said: “We are proud and privileged to be associated with an event that truly captures the spirit of Abu Dhabi. Our participation comes as a result of being committed to our community, a commitment from us to help people achieve their ambitions. We remain focused to further increase our contribution and support to the community through such initiatives in the future.”

Lee Tabler, Chief Executive Officer of TDIC, commented: “The Saadiyat Beach Classic hosted by Gary Player, is already established as a world-class event and popular amongst the players, sponsors and the people of Abu Dhabi. This year, in partnering with ADCB, we welcome an organisation that shares our long-term ambition for the event and many important synergies including an abiding commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.

“Everyone involved, including our new partners, recognise that the aim of the tournament is to make a real difference in the lives of many children whilst at the same time giving golfers and spectators the unique opportunity to rub shoulders with icons of sport and entertainment.”

Having attracted leading players Rory McIlroy and Darren Clarke to the 2010 event, an equally exciting line-up is expected this year when the players are announced in early 2011 by TDIC. The Pro-Am tournament will be free for spectators to attend and will offer fascinating viewing and unprecedented access to some of the world’s greatest golfers as they tackle the spectacular championship golf course at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club.

Following the fiercely competitive Pro-Am golf tournament, TDIC will also host a black tie charity gala dinner on the evening of 24th January featuring live entertainment from a host of familiar names from the Arab world. The evening includes silent and live auctions for a wide range of big-ticket items donated by corporate sponsors to significantly boost the fund raising efforts.

In addition to ADCB a number of prestigious sponsors will be announced for the 2011 Saadiyat Beach Classic hosted by Gary Player in the coming weeks.

Managed by Troon Golf, the world’s largest golf management company, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is the flagship sports facility on Saadiyat Beach, a future magnet for high-end visitors and residents with its host of exclusive 5-star resorts that will make it one of the world’s most premium and stylish destinations.
