Mox, the leading buggy leasing company, and Manheim, the UK’s largest auction company, are teaming up again and this time they’ve got over 400 used buggies to sell.
With over 500 golf club customers in the UK leasing fleets of buggies, there’s a significant number that become available at the end of their leasing term.
Iain Belton, general manager of Mox, saw that an auction offered the ideal opportunity to satisfy the demand for inexpensive buggies, and has had excellent results from the two auctions held so far.
“Buggies are increasingly popular with a lot of golf clubs, and just as there’s a big market for leasing new buggies as an additional income stream, there’s a growing demand for used or reconditioned buggies,” he said. “An auction is the most efficient way to give everyone interested in used buggies the same opportunity to see the goods and to bid for the ones they want.”
The buggies are all 2-seaters, and leading brands like EZGO and Club Car. Their ages range from 3 to 9 years old. Of the 420 that are up for bidding, 360 are runners while the remaining 60 are being offered for parts. There’s plenty of choice between petrol and electrically powered buggies too, with around 200 of each kind up for sale, and in a variety of colours, mainly dark green, dark blue and maroon.
The last two auctions saw hundreds of buggies bid for and sold successfully, and Iain Belton is confident that the interest will be high.
“We’re already getting strong signs of interest from dealers and clubs,” he said. “The auction offers a unique opportunity for any golf club to buy leading brands of used buggies for very low prices compared to new ones. EZGO and Club Car buggies are very robust, and generally speaking, the ones we’re putting up for auction have been well maintained. With the large variety on offer, there will be some great bargains.”
The auction is on 12th June at Mox’s UK head office on Wildmere Industrial Estate, Banbury, and bidding starts at 11am. For more details contact Peter Harrison of Manheim Auctions on 0113 393 2075, or on his mobile 07767 845 804, or you can e-mail him at peter.harrison@manheimeurope.com
