Memorabilia auction to coincide with 2008 Open

Maxwells Auctioneers will hold the sale on 15th July. The salesroom is close to Manchester Airport not far from Royal Birkdale.

An important golfing memorabilia auction will be held next July to coincide with The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Colin Palmer has teamed up with Maxwells Auctioneers to act as their golf specialist for this event.

Maxwells are based in Stockport, Cheshire which is close to Manchester. The auction is on Tuesday 15th July 2008. The salesroom where the action will take place is in a prime location, which is very close to Manchester Airport and within close proximity of Royal Birkdale and all the other great courses on the Lancashire coast.

Maxwells Auctioneers have a long and successful history of selling antiques and collectables and have developed a reputation for a very high level of quality of service.

“On my part, this sale will signal the return to the traditional auction scene after a break of over four years,” said Colin Palmer. “Already submitted to the auction is Willie Fernie’s Open Championship winner’s medal from 1883 at Musselburgh. The news that this massively important medal is to be made available is already creating high levels of interest and attention. This is bound to increase as the auction draws ever nearer.
