Golf rules courses – dates announced

8.22am 26th November 2007 - Salesroom & Memorabilia

The PGA has unveiled the 2008 dates for its popular golf rules courses run at its Belfry headquarters.

Aimed at all golf enthusiasts from amateurs through to pros, the courses offer a fascinating insight the rules which are brought to life and covered in detail from practical sessions through to analysis of televised incidents.

PGA tournament staff who have experience of officiating at the four majors, Ryder Cup plus European Tour events, will administer the courses which will again cover all aspects of the Rules of Golf and in addition focus on the amendments to the 2008 Rules of Golf.

“Improving your understanding of the rules has many advantages but it’s also a lot of fun if the delivery is right – as we‘ve seen down the years the rules have thrown up some fascinating scenarios and getting to grips with them really can add to the overall enjoyment of the game,” said PGA Director of Golf Steve Cox.

“For club secretaries and committee members who are running tournaments at their clubs, it’s essential to have a sound knowledge of the rules. As for the amateur golfer, I think the general consensus is that it’s important to know the basics and that’s why these courses have proved so popular over the last two years.”

In order to cater for all levels, there will be an Introduction to the Rules of Golf course as well as the Advanced Rules of Golf & Refereeing course which will include an optional assessment.

The courses will be held at Ping House at The Belfry and the dates are as follows:

Saturday 19 January 2008
Introduction to the Rules of Golf

Saturday 2 February 2008

Saturday 1 March 2008
