Marchesi Antinori becomes Official Wine Supplier for 2023 Ryder Cup

Italian wine producer Marchesi Antinori has been chosen as the Official Wine Supplier for the 2023 Ryder Cup, which is taking place at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, Italy from Sept 29 – Oct 1.

The Antinori family have been producing wine in Tuscany since 1385 and have since established a reputation as one of Italy’s finest winemakers.

It will be Marchesi Antinori’s Villa Antinori Rosso Toscana IGT and Villa Antinori Bianco Toscana IGT (pictured above) that will be the wines of choice at the Ryder Cup itself, and the range of sponsorship functions and ceremonial events that take place in the build up to golf’s greatest team contest between Team Europe and Team USA.

Villa Antinori was selected after a six-month process that included several other leading Italian wine labels. Villa Antinori, which today includes two red wine and two white wines, was first crafted in 1928 by Marchese Niccolò Antinori – also a golf pioneer in Italy – as the Antinori family’s signature wine.

Alongside the Villa Antinori wines, Calafuria Rosato Salento IGT was also selected, which is produced in Puglia at the Tormaresca estate.

Speaking about the partnership, Piero Antinori, Honorary President of Marchesi Antinori, said: “Being a golfer myself, it’s a source of great pride for me and my family to partner with the Ryder Cup for this very important sporting event. Being chosen to accompany the Ryder Cup along this journey with Villa Antinori, our most historical wine and a symbol of Tuscany and quality, perfectly pairs with the great history and significance of this event. Created just one year apart, both Villa Antinori and the Ryder Cup have been sharing the same values and excellence for almost 100 years.”

Guy Kinnings, Ryder Cup Director and Deputy CEO of the European Tour group, added: “As the historic Ryder Cup visits Italy for the first time in 2023, it is only fitting that we chose a historic Italian wine maker to be our Official Supplier. With a busy schedule of sponsorship and media engagements over the next two years, and a tournament that will see hundreds of thousands of fans descending on Marco Simone, we know that with Marchesi Antinori by our side our guests will have an unparalleled wine drinking experience.”
