HLL Humberts Leisure, who acted on behalf of Chesterfield Borough Council, reports the letting of Tapton Park Golf Course, Chesterfield to Sheffield International Ventures.

Tapton Park Golf Course is a renowned municipal golf course founded in 1934. The property comprises an 18 hole 6,104 yard (par 72) parkland golf course; 9 hole 2,613 yard (par 34) course; 9 hole par 3 course; practice ground (with potential for a floodlit golf riving range); large clubhouse; lodge and greenkeepers’ compound, located on the outskirts of Chesterfield (population 99,000). The business is operated as a municipal pay and play facility and offers great potential for commercialisation.

Tapton Park Golf Course has been let to Sheffield International Ventures, a Trust operating a range of leisure facilities in Sheffield, including the Don Valley Stadium, Beauchief Golf Course, Birley Wood Golf Course and Tinsley Golf Course.

Ben Allen BSc (Hons) MRICS, head of HLL Humberts Leisure’s golf agency team, handled the marketing of Tapton Park Golf Course. Ben Allen said ‘Tapton Park Golf Course is a fine, long established golf facility that achieves circa 70,000 rounds of golf each year. Sheffield International Venture’s proposals for the redevelopment and future management of the property, combined with their local golf market knowledge made them an ideal operator for Tapton Park. We are confident that golfers will shortly reap the benefit of Sheffield International Ventures enthusiasm for the property.’’
