Crown Golf, the UK’s leading golf operator, have completed the sale of Stapleford Abbotts Golf Club in Essex to Stapleford Abbotts Development Limited led by local entrepreneurs, Phil & Rita Newman.
Phil & Rita were the original developer of Stapleford Abbots 30 years ago, are members of the club and passionate about ensuring Stapleford Abbotts continues to thrive as a leading Essex golf facility. Commenting on their forthcoming purchase, Phil and Rita say: “We see a big future for Stapleford Abbotts and have plans to invest in the club house and Abbotts course to it onto the next level for our members”.
Crown Golf have owned and successfully operated Stapleford Abbotts since 2004, developing the business and the courses over this period. Following a number of expressions of interest in the club, a decision was made to sell the property through leading golf leisure agents HMH in November 2018. Commenting on the sale, Crown Golf CEO, Stephen Towers said, “We have greatly enjoyed being custodians of Stapleford Abbotts, along with having the members and our club colleagues as part of the Crown Golf family. Over recent years we have taken the opportunity to rationalise and invest in our portfolio, as well as broaden our property development and golf management activities and this sale is consistent with that strategy. Stapleford Abbotts is a great facility and I am delighted that we have found such a committed and passionate buyer, who knows and understands the club and will be well placed to lead it on the next stage of its golfing journey.”
