Sale of Major West Country Golf & Leisure Complex

8.36am 12th November 2010 - Property

A major West Country Golf and Leisure complex has been sold for an undisclosed sum to a Canadian entrepreneur.

The 405 acre Roserrow Estate which spans the coast around Polzeath in one of North Cornwall’s most prestigious areas has a championship standard golf course designed by Ryder Cup golfer, David Feherty. The course has attracted a host of famous name players, including film star Hugh Grant.

The sale was announced today after a two year consultation with specialist consultants, The Business Company, who were engaged to carry out a full review of the business before clarifying its future potential to maximise the value and taking it to market.

Despite the current economic situation and challenges faced internally by Roserrow, The Business Company proved their ability to marry a purchaser with a unique requirement in a niche market and subsequently negotiated a successful sale, facilitating every stage of the process through to completion.

Roserrow combines a golf and leisure complex with a diverse holiday property portfolio ranging from apartment style lets through to high end luxury homes. The site has planning permissions for further residential properties, an affordable housing project, 30 room hotel and fishing lakes.

Mark Harris, Managing Director of The Business Company which is based in Shropshire, said: “Our pre-analysis of the business and its constituent parts, together with a review of the sale options and future development opportunities, enabled us to establish the correct market position of Roserrow and to source and approach a number of suitable prospective buyers. We then acted as the intermediary, reviewing the buyer shortlist and resolving various issues before facilitating the actual sale.”
