Porthpean Golf Club put up for sale

9.45am 7th September 2023 - Property

Porthpean Golf Club, which enjoys a spectacular setting overlooking St Austell Bay in Cornwall, has been put for sale with offers invited in excess of £1.25m.

HMH Golf & Leisure has been instructed by the Directors of Porthpean Golf Club Ltd to bring the club market.

A proprietary golf club established 1992, Porthpean is situated mid-way between Falmouth and Plymouth on the Cornwall’s popular southern coastline.

The property comprises an 18-hole, 5,253-yard, par 67 golf course with a clubhouse, both of which offer fine views over St Austell Bay. The front nine plays though inland mature parkland/ woodland, with the back holes opening up to a coastal setting with far-reaching sea views.

Additional facilities include a large decking area adjoining the clubhouse, greenkeeping building and car parking. The freehold property extends to 35.3 hectares/87 acres, with further land available by separate negotiation.

Ben Allen at HMH commented: ‘Porthpean Golf Club is one of those unique properties that come to market so rarely. The far reaching coastal views available from many areas of the property are hard to beat and provide a wonderful setting for the golf course. The club, which has a loyal membership, is only being offered for sale as the current owners are of retirement age. The opportunity for the buyer to expand the business to take full advantage of this very special setting is readily apparent.”

The current owners, the Tuckers, added: ‘Having made the difficult decision to sell the family business, we wish to express our gratitude to our members and regular visitors for all of their support through the years and very much look forward to seeing the club flourish under new ownership. Until then, it will be very much business as normal.”
