Savills, on behalf of Leicester Racecourse Holdings Limited, is marketing the opportunity to lease Oadby Golf Course in Leicester.

The property comprises an 18 hole, 6,000 yard golf course and is located in Oadby, on the south eastern outskirts of Leicester. The site extends to approximately 106 acres (43 hectares), of which approximately 43 acres (17 hectares) is situated within the racecourse circuit itself where nine holes of the course are located.

There is an existing 4,773 sq. ft. (443 sq. m) golf clubhouse and 814 sq. ft. (76 sq. m) golf professionals shop as well as a putting green, greenkeepers’ building and car parking for approximately 80 cars. The property benefits from planning consent for construction of a new 15 bay floodlit golf driving range.

The golf course has been maintained to a basic standard as open grassland since its closure in April 2012 but is not currently in a playable condition, and the clubhouse buildings will also require refurbishment or redevelopment before being returned to use in conjunction with the course.

Ian Simpson, director of leisure and trading at Savills Oxford, comments: “There is a real opportunity at Oadby for a successful new golf business to use the existing facilities and develop the proposed new driving range, as well as associated leisure facilities. Our client will be flexible over the proposed lease terms if it secures long term investment in the property which is compatible with the adjoining racecourse operation.”
