More homes at Desert Springs

Construction work is underway on 87 new colonial-style homes at Desert Springs, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course in the Almeria region of south-east Spain.

The newest phase planned at Desert Springs, Las Sierras del Desierto, is being built on the highest point in the 300 hectare (750 acre) resort which occupies an elevated plateau near the former silver mining boom town of Cuevas del Almanzora.

The design of the colonial-style two- and three-bedroom townhouses and one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment buildings being developed by the Almanzora Bay Group echoes that of the traditional architecture with wooden and iron verandas and balconies which are a feature of Cuevas del Almanzora.

All of the townhouses, which range in size from 90 sq m to 106 sq m, come with a paved private patio area and most have private gardens as well. All have access to the communal gardens, pools and parking areas.

The apartments, which are being built around courtyards, pools, gardens and classic Spanish patios, have panoramic views of the golf course, the sea and the mountains around Desert Springs. Floor areas of the apartments range in size from 51 sq m to 100 sq m. Living rooms all have sun terraces and each purchaser owns a private roof solarium. In addition, owners have the use of a car parking area, gardens, swimming and paddling pools.

The Almanzora Bay Group, which constructed the first buildings at Desert Springs in 1999, has a carefully developed long-term plan for completion of the resort. It will include two 18-hole golf courses, a four-star golf and sports hotel and a super luxury five-star plus spa hotel, restaurants and shops, as well as a low density development comprising apartments, townhouses and cottages to villas and country houses all built to the highest British standards of construction and finish. Already 250 homes have been completed and sold.

Prices of the new homes currently start at €205,000 for a one-bedroom apartment rising to €345,000 for a three-bedroom home. The prices of townhouses start at €315,000 for a two-bedroom property rising to €435,000 for a three-bedroom home. All the prices include non-residential joining fees for golf club membership which is worth up to €30,000.

The properties are sold in the UK and Eire by The Almanzora Group www.almanzora.com
