Hampshire golf club swings onto market

12.30am 10th October 2005 - Property

The Quindell Golf and Country Club at Skylark Meadows, Whiteley, combines modernity and tradition and is on the market at a guide price of £2.25m to £2.5m.
Situated within striking distance of Portsmouth, Fareham and Southampton, the 18-hole, 5,600, par 70 golf course has a modern clubhouse with pro shop, sports bar, restaurant with bar and health and beauty spa.
By contrast, the business also includes a traditional Hampshire tithe barn which has been converted to accommodate a gym, golf fitness area and golf simulator. Additional facilities for Quindell’s private members include a croquet lawn, boules rink and putting green. Greenkeepers’ facilities include a store and workshop, mess room and secure outdoor storage containers.
The business opened in January 2005 following extensive refurbishment of the clubhouse and various improvement works to the golf course. The current owners are operating the business as an exclusive private members’ club and are forecasting a turnover of £450,000 for the first full year, rising to £800,000 by 2007.
Sarah Payne, of Savills Leisure Team in Oxford, who is handling the sale, says, “This is a superb opportunity to acquire a golf and leisure business of the highest quality, located close to the population catchments of Portsmouth, Fareham and Southampton.”
