HLL Humberts Leisure has been appointed by Crawley Borough Council to offer Tilgate Forest Golf Centre in Sussex to let on a proposed 25 year FRI lease. Annual rental offers are invited for the property, with initial expressions of interest required by 5th September 2003.
Tilgate Forest Golf Centre is a 27 hole golf facility with a 35 bay floodlit golf driving range, clubhouse and greenkeepers’ compound, forming part of Tilgate Forest Park located on Crawley’s southern boundary. The business, which commenced trading in 1982, is operated as a pay and play facility and generated in excess of £540,000 green fees and range fees in the year to 30th March 2003.
Crawley Borough Council is seeking an experienced operator who will comply with the Council’s objectives. These include ensuring that the facility remains open to all members of the public, obtaining investment in, or the redevelopment of, the existing golf courses and central clubhouse facilities and securing a sustainable annual rent for the Council.

Opportunities of this quality are only infrequently available to the market and we anticipate strong competition to secure this property. Proposals for Tilgate Forest Golf Centre will be judged on a number of criteria including covenant strength, operating experience, the proposed annual rent and the projected capital investment in the facility.”
