Canford Magna GC: For sale with Hotel Consent

2.59pm 22nd June 2010 - Property

Canford Magna Golf Complex

HMH Golf and Leisure have been instructed to sell Canford Magna Golf Club, a well-established 45 hole complex on the outskirts of Bournemouth.

The two full length courses were designed by Howard Swan. There is also a nine hole par 3 course and a golf academy with driving range. The clubhouse is 11,000 sq.ft. and, with around 1,100 members, the business has an annual turnover of £1.8 million.

The business is profitable, has a valuable hotel and leisure consent and is well known in the area.

The property extends to 297 acres and includes a pair of cottages. The whole estate is offered for sale freehold.

There is consent for a 67 bedroom hotel with health and fitness facilities. There is currently no dedicated golf hotel complex in this region. The nearest are Woodbury Park near Exeter to the west and Botley Park and Meon Valley in the Southampton Area to the east.

While Bournemouth does have a number of middle market tourist hotels, which tend to target the short summer and off-peak shoulder seasons, there does appear to be a need for a top quality 4 star conference hotel with golf and leisure

“With the development of the hotel and leisure, the complex would be able to take advantage of its two existing, full length 18 hole golf courses to become one of the  best venues on the entire south coast of England,” said Tom Marriott, for selling agents, HMH Golf and Leisure.

Details of the guide price have not yet been published but further information is available from Nick Hopton on 07768 33 44 30 nch@hmhgolfandleisure.com
