Callaway announce that Pete Cowen, the world’s most in-demand coach with top tournament professionals, has decided to join its Tour team with immediate effect.

Cowen, who is coach to recent World Number One, plus two reigning major champions, and achieved a remarkable 1-2-3 ‘treble’ at the Open Championship at St Andrews in 2010, joins the likes of David Leadbetter and Dave Pelz on Callaway’s advisory staff.

“Pete is the hottest golf coach in the world right now and has achieved remarkable success with his players, which is why our Tour team and everyone at Callaway is so excited that he has decided to move to our brand,” said Neil Howie, President of Callaway Golf Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“Pete is renowned for his drive, attention to detail and his determination to optimise every player’s performance – characteristics consistent with the Callaway ethos.”

Neil Howie added: “We are well aware that Pete’s move to Callaway is seen as a major coup in the golf industry. His decision to move to Callaway is a reflection of our unwavering commitment to equipment, innovation, custom fitting, the Tour and, above all, player performance.”

Pete Cowen’s latest success has been to upgrade Callaway Staff Professional and Ryder Cup hero Thomas Bjorn’s game, returning him to winning ways at February’s Commercialbank Qatar Masters.

It follows a remarkable 12 months where players coached by Cowen proved themselves in the Majors with a 2nd place at The Masters, a US Open victory and 1-2-3 ‘treble’ at St. Andrews.

A former Tour professional himself, Pete Cowen has established a global reputation for his expertise and ability to transform players’ games, with his pupils suggesting he has a genius’ eye for the golf swing.

Commenting on joining Callaway, Pete Cowen said: “To be one of Callaway’s brand ambassadors, alongside greats such as Annika Sorenstam, Arnold Palmer, David Leadbetter and Johnny Miller is a true honour. Callaway has been at the forefront of golf equipment technology for more than 25 years and I look forward to playing my part in the ongoing success of this company and brand.”
