Turf industry marketer and commentator Ellie Parry’s social media talent has been recognised by Golf Course Industry magazine in the United States.
She received an award for best use of Twitter for her recently launched job listing site – www.turfjobs.co.uk – at the recent Golf Industry Show in Orlando, Florida.
Ellie, whose Twitter handle is @groundsmaiden, has been connecting turf professionals in the UK with vacancies for several years, and is followed by more than 2,700 people.
She recently launched TurfJobs as an online portal, creating a low-cost, effective way to advertise turf industry vacancies to a specialist audience.
The website also lists national apprenticeship opportunities in groundsmanship and greenkeeping across the UK and promotes the services of Perennial, the charity that supports people who work in horticulture and their families in times of need.
Speaking in Orlando, Ellie said: “Through Twitter, those working within the golf and turf industry around the world connect, share information, support and learn from each other. I’ve been inspired by those I follow, and it has motivated me to encourage others to consider a career in the turf industry, whether in sports turf management, in the trade, the media or in turf production.”
Pat Jones, GCI publisher added: “The purpose of our awards program is to shine a spotlight on those who are setting a great example for others on social media and Ellie Parry is a very deserving recipient. If you are not following her on Twitter you are missing out on great employment information in the UK and wonderful content and interaction for turf managers around the globe.”
Ellie Parry is MD of Forte Marketing & Public Relations, which has provided specialist marketing and public relations support for companies and organisations in the turf and amenity sector for the past 13 years. ellie@fortemarketing.co.uk
