The UK Golf Federation moves on at pace with the appointment of a CEO. Doug Poole (pictured) joins bringing a a wealth of experience from within the golf industry to help the development of many of the new structures and initiatives the UKGF will have to support the growth of golf participation from within its many members.
The UKGF will represent golf clubs, courses and facilities, working closely together all the major golfing bodies to ensure they have a place in the development of golf participation and the changes it may have to make as the game develops over the coming years. Its vision is to unite all golfers, especially the pay and play independent golfers with courses, clubs and golf centres and grow golf by increasing visiting independent players.
Clearly the development of golf participation starts with the open access golfing facilities, whether golf courses or driving ranges and the UKGF look to maximise on this position by using their commercial skills to grow the participation needed for the future of the game.
Doug Poole who has been involved at executive level with the BGIA, Golf Foundation and is currently on the board of England Golf commented “I’m thrilled to be taking on this new role and look forward to helping to drive greater participation in golf. There are a number of challenges facing the golf world and the Federation will be a major help to many golf operators and golf facilities, and of course the independent golfers, who are the key to the game’s future.”
Richard Haygarth, Chairman of the UK Golf Federation made the following comments on the appointment of Doug Poole as the new Chief Executive of the UK Golf Federation:
“We are delighted that Doug has agreed to lead the Federation from the outset. He brings a wealth of experience to the post and a passion for golf that still burns powerfully. The role will be demanding and require all his skill and effort to set the Federation on the right path. He has the full support of the board and we all look forward to working closely with him.
“Watch this space as the UK Golf Federation works to bring new initiatives and support from the commercial golf facilities to help develop the game over the coming years.”
