Trump Turnberry Welcomes Duo Of Talent To Leading Golf Academy

Trump Turnberry has welcomed the arrival of two new PGA Teaching Professionals who have bolstered the team at the world-renowned golf destination. Sharing a wealth of golfing expertise, the qualified teaching pros – c will mentor golfers as they take advantage of one of Scotland’s most prestigious collection of courses.

Brought on board to help members and visitors alike who wish to master the skills of the game, the duo will join Palmer Mitchell to offer tuition and advice at the iconic collection of courses. Both with a passion for world-class facilities and training, Oli and Stephen each bring international experience and a deep-rooted background in the sport.

Oli, who relocated from Rugby, in Warwickshire, holds a Foundation Degree in Professional Golf Studies. Committed to pursuing a career within the golf industry from an early age, Oli brings more than ten years’ experience to Trump Turnberry.

He said: “My whole life is golf so working at Trump Turnberry really is a dream come true. I represented Warwickshire at Under 16’s, Under 18’s and Men’s 1st and 2nd teams as an amateur golfer and I knew instantly I wanted to spend my life doing something I’m truly passionate about.

“After working at various courses and golf shops I decided to enrol in a course which would further develop my skills. After 10 years in the industry, I was looking for a bigger challenge, and a fantastic opportunity came up Trump Turnberry, as the Senior Teaching Professional.

“I am now able to take advantage of one of the most captivating backdrops in golf which really is fantastic.”

Stephen, who grew up and lives locally to Trump Turnberry, completed PGA training at Swanston Golf Club in Edinburgh and became Head Professional in 2014. Stephen’s love for golf began at Turnberry, when he hit his first golf ball as a 12-year-old at the course where he is now part of the team.

Stephen commented: “At 12 years old I began watching the US Masters on television.
My dad took me to Turnberry for a lesson at the Golf Academy with the now Director of Golf, Ricky Hall, which is where my true passion for the sport began.

“I joined Portpatrick Golf Club as a junior and represented Wigtownshire at junior level in 2002. I immigrated to Australia at the age of 15, where I represented South Australia and Australia at elite amateur level.

“I’ve now come full circle, back to where my dreams began and I could not be happier. Working as a Teaching PGA Professional at Trump Turnberry is where I always wanted to be so I’m delighted to now be part of the team at such an iconic course.”

Ricky Hall, director of golf at Trump Turnberry, said: “Oli and Stephen make perfect additions to our team, and complete a teaching line up that really reflects the quality of the golf here at Trump Turnberry. Their experience and passion for the sport will shine through in their coaching, whether it’s with complete beginners or those looking to perfect their game.”

Oli and Stephen will work across the Ailsa Craig Course, the nine-hole Arran Course and the world-famous King Robert the Bruce, as well as the Wee Links, driving range, Cairngorms Putting Course, and state-of-the-art teaching facilities.
