Troon announces the strategic appointment of Mr Jon Brook as Golf Director of the company’s first facility in France, Chateau d’Augerville – member of Châteaux & Hôtels Collection. The appointment underlines the market-leader’s long-standing commitment to promoting from within its collective of over 5,000 associates who implement best practices across the board, to elevate some of the finest golf experiences across the globe and most importantly, in all new destinations for Troon.

“I am really excited by the opportunity to work with such a stunning property. France has strong golfing traditions and I look forward to working closely with the team at such a historic venue to develop the golf side of the business,” said Jon Brooks, Golf Director, Chateau d’Augerville. “With the investment and uniqueness of the facility, coupled with its location South of Paris, proximity to the 2018 Ryder Cup venue, Le Golf National, Paris and the historic town of Fontainebleau, we couldn’t be better placed to open the facility to the wider international and domestic golfing community.”

Jon joins Chateau d’Augerville with a wealth of golfing knowledge, having been within the industry for over 20 years, the last year with Troon. No stranger to high profile facilities, the 41 year old recently completed an assignment for Troon at the luxury golf tuition venue in the Maldives; Private Moments by Olazábal on Velaa Private Island, Noonu Atoll. In addition, Jon has also worked with some of the UK’s most prestigious venues, including Wentworth Club, The RAC Club in Epsom and Burhill Golf Club.

As the 15th Century facility undergoes several refurbishments and substantial investment, Jon will drive forward the hard-work instigated by Troon’s expert agronomy team and the greenkeeping staff at the Chateau to enhance the presentation and conditioning of the 18-hole layout. Aiding in the process, the owners have recently supported the efforts with the purchase of new course maintenance machinery, an all-new Buggy Storage area and the addition of a Professional Shop, all of which will be completed in time for the golf season.

A complete upgrade of the practice and Academy facility mean that golf visitors in 2015 will be treated to an all new golf experience.

“This has already been an exciting period for golf at the Chateau under the guidance of Troon, we are pleased to welcome Jon to the team and look forward to him leading all parts of the golf business,” commented Sébastien Urvoy-Berthelot, Manager, Chateau d’Augerville.

Just one hour’s drive from Paris, the Chateau is set for a bright future. A new Spa with thermal suite, hydrotherapy pool and treatment rooms will be added to enhance the already luxurious offering within the 4* historic hotel which features 40 bedrooms, including eight suites within the Chateau and the remaining rooms in its two 17th century historical annexes. Visitors can relax in true French style, dining in the prestigious residence’s restaurant in honour of its original owner and sampling the Chateau’s very own confectioner, Les Douceurs d’Augerville which offers an array of mouth-watering handmade chocolate.

Urvoy-Berthelot continued, “With this new round of investment, the next few years will be a really exciting time for the Chateau and all involved. We are working hard with partners in the Travel industry to increase the number of golf tourists who visit us. With links to other local clubs, Chateau d’Augerville offers some great stay & play options for the discerning traveller.”
