The Academy at Trafford Golf Centre in Manchester has appointed Paul Wiliams and Matthew Cross into its growing team of PGA professionals. The duo have begun their PGA degree programme and will begin coaching in early 2022.

The new Academy recruits, who have been part of the Trafford Golf Centre team for 12 months, will be the driving force behind the Junior Academy, including the school education programme. The pair will work alongside Assistant PGA coaches Matthew Phillips and Callum Hayes.

Director of Golf, Pete Styles said: “2022 is set to be an exciting year at Trafford Golf Centre and I’m pleased to be welcoming Paul and Matthew into the Academy team. I personally love to see our team members progressing their careers and showing a passion for the sport, so I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing what they will bring to the Academy, with their focus being our Junior offering.”

Junior golf lessons will be available seven days a week from February 21, with class times from 4-5pm from Monday to Friday and at 9am, 10am and 11am on weekends.

School packages are also available, plus there is a special offer for Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Guides, Brownies and Rainbow groups.

Speaking on his appointment, Paul Williams said: “I’m really looking forward to embarking on this next chapter. Having worked at Trafford Golf Centre for the past 12 months, it’s a fantastic opportunity to join the Academy team and I can’t wait to see new golfing talent join our Junior Academy in 2022.”

Matthew Cross added: “Whether your little one is a complete newbie to golf or already has some experience and passion for the sport, we welcome all ages and all experience levels at the Junior Academy. I’d like to thank Pete and the team for welcoming me on board, I can’t wait to get started!”
