When he becomes the new General Manager  at Wildwood Golf & Country Club in Surrey in April, Tom Large will be on the way to achieving his ambition of being the general manager of a top golf destination.

As he explains, “Ever since I started as a junior at Wildwood, my goal was to be a Director of Golf or a GM at a high profile facility, and this is a terrific opportunity to do just that.”

Home to the Virgin Atlantic Little Red PGA South Order of Merit event, the Wildwood Invitational, Wildwood Golf & Country Club has planning permission to re-develop the golf club into a major hotel and lodge offering alongside the three existing nines. Wildwood Managing Director and PGA Professional, Phil Harrison promoted Large with a view to his being in on the ground floor and seeing the massive development through its expected three year programme.

From April onwards, all the departments at Wildwood will be reporting to him and with his PGA qualification, coaching, event management and hospitality experience, Large knows what each one needs to be successful, as he comments. “Wildwood’s future as a major hotel and golf facility is looking very positive. Phil’s decision is a huge expression of confidence in me, and I’m delighted he’s given me this opportunity. Wildwood will be a completely different kind of golfing facility in five years’ time with the hotel and lodges, and it’s very exciting to be in at the beginning, and to help realise the full potential of the place.”
