Swinging the Faldo way

The first Faldo Golf Institute in Europe has been officially launched at Brocket Hall Golf Club in Welwyn, Hertfordshire, England. The golf academy at the prestigious club will become home to the six times major champion’s state-of-the-art game improvement and development centre.

The Faldo Golf Institute has been borne out of a growing relationship between Nick Faldo and CCA, the owners and operators of Brocket Hall, who have also invited him to take over the role of President from Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. It heralds a partnership involving Nick in the design of their courses at clubs around the world.

The Faldo Golf Institute, which will continue to be managed by professional Keith Wood and his team, will cater for new and existing golfers hoping to develop and improve their golf skills. It embodies a structured practice facility including an indoor teaching school, a long game zone, short game zone and a par 3 approach zone course, complete with information boards on the tees offering Nick’s advice on how to play each hole.

Keith Wood and his team will be the first golf professionals in Europe to teach the Faldo way, and following their accreditation, will be personally developed, approved and monitored by Nick himself. Apart from adopting his methodology, the team will transfer to their pupils Nick’s ethos and dedication to performance which has won him respect the world over as one of the game’s greatest shot makers. Two and three day residential and non-residential golf schools are available.

Of the development Nick commented: “Brocket Hall is a fabulous venue with first-class playing and practice facilities. Given that it is located only two miles from where I was born it enables me to put something positive back into the area for which I have a deep affection. To this end, we are working on the establishment of junior bursaries to enable underprivileged youngsters to develop their skills.”

Dieter Klostermann, Chairman of CCA, added: “We are delighted to have the first Faldo Golf Institute in Europe at Brocket Hall and look forward to welcoming him here for the official opening on August 5th. Given his incredible career, we are hoping that we will all soon be swinging the Faldo way!”
