Deer Park Golf and Country Club in West Lothian has appointed Iain Stoddart as its new PGA Professional.

Stoddart brings with him a wealth of experience and will move from his current role as golf sales manager at Deer Park to become the club’s designated PGA Professional. He will replace the American Golf store which closed suddenly upon the company entering administration at the end of October.

Stoddart has a long history within the golf industry, having attended Webber International University in Florida on a golf scholarship before embarking upon a career that has included several golf sales and PGA professional roles at prestigious clubs, including The Berkshire in London and Dalmahoy Hotel, Golf and Country Club in his native Scotland. Prior to joining Deer Park, he served as PGA Professional at Greenburn Golf Club in West Lothian.

Iain Watson, general manager at Deer Park Golf and Country Club, says the appointment is ideal to help the club continue moving forward.  He said: “Iain has played an important role in helping us provide a better experience for all members here at Deer Park and we’re delighted he has accepted the opportunity to become our new PGA Professional.

“Not only have the number of new memberships increased over the last two years, our membership retention has improved and Iain has played a key role in ensuring that has been the case. His good rapport with our membership is a real positive when taking on this role and we’re all excited for what the future holds.”

Set to start his new role from January 1 2019, Stoddart says he is looking forward to helping Deer Park build upon the fantastic platform the club has developed over the past few years, which has seen membership figures rising and the condition of the course continually improving.  He said: “The work that has been carried out by everyone in the club over the last few years has put us in a strong position from a membership and golf course stand point. It has also brought us a lot of visiting parties as word of mouth has spread about how good a golf course Deer Park really is, so it’s an exciting time to be taking on this position.

“The product we offer here at Deer Park is second to none in the region and it is consistently getting better thanks to continued investment from our owners. It’s an exciting time here at the club, and I can’t wait to get started.”
