Prior to this appointment, Stephen was Director of Sales and Marketing at Turnberry, a Luxury Collection Resort, an icon in the world of golf where he led the sales team with responsibility for all marketing, sales and events. Earlier in his career he was International Sales Manager for Scandic Hotels based in London and opened The Dalmahoy Golf & Country back in the early nineties.

With extensive experience in many global markets having worked in this field for over 25 years Stephen has been brought into The Renaissance Club to continue to find new revenue generating sources and to market membership. Following the success of The Renaissance Club’s “One Time Experience”, which offers the opportunity for non-members to experience what this exclusive club has to offer during the golfing season, the club will look for more opportunities to market & distribute this unique programme under Stephen’s stewardship.

Stephen’s extensive experience in management and leadership with global companies including Starwood Hotels & Resorts; made him the unanimous choice by the Board of The Renaissance Club to develop membership and revenue generation strategies at the club as well as positioning the clubs hospitality at the 5 star peak of private member experiences in Scotland.

Jerry Sarvadi, Managing Director of The Renaissance Club commented: “I am delighted to welcome Stephen Walker to The Renaissance Club as our new Director of Marketing & Hospitality. Stephen’s proven track record, extensive experience and outstanding leadership skills in this industry will be invaluable as we continue to further develop our business strategy and commercial opportunities.

“It was clear that Stephen has an unwavering passion for golf, hospitality and events as well as a strong grasp of the challenges and opportunities facing Private Members Golf Clubs.  He understands these factors and will help prove that proactive clubs, especially ones that develop flexible membership schemes, continue to recruit new members. He understands this industry and I have no doubt he will bring an innovative approach to the development of The Renaissance Club on a global stage.”

Stephen Walker said:  “I am very honoured to be joining The Renaissance Club as its new Director of Marketing & Hospitality at an exciting stage in the clubs development.  The Club already has a highly regarded reputation and I look forward to building on this using my previous experience in both marketing & operations to elevate the club further in the digital age. We will be exploring an array of commercial opportunities, which are fitting with private club membership policies, and following global trends, creating new partnerships and exposing the club to new & exciting target audiences with the sole of objective of revenue growth and ultimately more membership sales.”

Nestled in the heart of Scotland’s Golf Coast, The Renaissance Club’s exquisitely manicured greens and fairways have played host to elite golfers from all over the world, as well as a steady stream of millionaires – and billionaires – with a passion for the sport.  Stephen will oversee the management of the club, which will co-host its first tournament this year when the club welcomes the world’s leading boy golfers, for the Boys Amateur Championship in August 2016, alongside neighbouring Championship course, Muirfield. The club also boasts 24 luxurious lodging rooms, complete with spa, gymnasium and treatment areas and has perfectly appointed locker rooms, bar and fabulous dining experiences.
