As part of their continued development strategy, SNAG Golf (Ireland) has appointed Philip Murphy PGA as Director of Golf for the Irish region.
Philip joins SNAG Golf with a history steeped in Junior Coaching success; this was clearly recognised by the ILGU when he was given the role as their National Junior Coach. During his tenure as National Junior Coach he was responsible for overseeing the progress of the National Under 18 panel, many of whom went on to become Professionals. Other roles included provincial coach to the Munster and Connacht under 18 girls’ elite panels and Connacht ladies elite panel.
With over 40 successful years of coaching behind him, Philip is a highly respected member of the PGA and is much regarded among his peers as a junior coaching specialist. He will bring all this knowledge and experience with him to help SNAG Golf (Ireland) continue to develop and keep them at the forefront of “growing the game” in Ireland.
Philip states, “My aim as a golf coach has always been to get as many people playing and enjoying our wonderful game. By joining SNAG Golf (Ireland) I see a real opportunity for me to utilise all the experience I have gathered over the last 40 years of coaching and combine it with SNAG’s existing award winning system to produce a model that will bring about a real change in how we approach teaching the game of golf, particularly to children. This is a new chapter in my own coaching development and somewhere I believe I can really make my mark, I am relishing the challenges that have been set and I look forward to enjoying a long future as the Director of Golf for SNAG Golf (Ireland)”
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Philip on board; to have captured someone of such calibre is a real coup for us. We see this appointment as a major step in the continued development of our growing organisation here in Ireland” says Michael O’Keefe, CEO SNAG Golf Ireland Ltd.
