Sky TV to screen England training

10.00am 19th March 2002 - People

Members of the EGU’s National Squad will be captured by Sky Television’s cameras during their third and final winter coaching get-together at Woodhall Spa next week. While England’s leading amateurs tune up for a tough season ahead, the satellite TV company will film various aspects of the three-day session at The National Golf Centre on 26-28 March.

This will be the third time that a TV company has put England’s finest under the spotlight and it comes in the wake of a string of overseas triumphs in the past five months. A new aspect of these winter gatherings will be the presence of European Tour golfer Greg Owen, who will give the players an insight into life on the Tour.

Ian Wilson from ACE – Athletes Career and Education – will be making a second visit and will be instructing the players about time management. This involves advising players on any educational projects they are engaged in or wish to take up such as information technology or languages, etc. As usual, the squad members will spend time on the academy range as well as in the conference room. On the range, professionals Peter Cowen, David Ridley and Gary Smith will handle various aspects of the game, while chief coach Keith Williams will oversee matters.
