Lexden Wood Golf Club in Essex has announced that renowned PGA Professional Sarah Bennett, the current captain of The PGA, will be joining its coaching team on December 9.

Only one of two female professionals in the UK to have achieved county and national coaching honours, Sarah has recently been awarded the accolade of PGA Specialist Professional and Coach by the Association and holds Fellowship status.

Sarah held the position of Head Coach for the under 18s boys and girls England East Region Squad for seven years, and led the U18 England team against Spain during this time. As Essex Ladies’ Head Coach for ten years, Sarah will also continue with her under 14’s programme at Lexden Wood.

Her years as a professional golfer, along with her remarkable achievements, passion and love for the game, means that Sarah will be the driving force offering a number of new programmes for all golfers at Lexden Wood, where will be continuing with Golfing Girl, a programme which she set up 12 years ago which provides a clear pathway for women new to the game. She will also be on hand to assist with the junior activities as a TPI Junior Certified Professional and her vast experience coaching the U14 County Girls will ensure progression at the right stage.

Bennett, who also captained the Women’s PGA Cup team in the USA in October, said: “I am excited to meet and offer my coaching services to both the current membership and new golfers at Lexden Wood. I really appreciate the enthusiasm and positive welcome I have received from the coaches, staff and members. I really look forward to highlighting the numerous health and social benefits which golf offers through my coaching services and communication for people to love their golf.”

Julie Saleh, marketing manager for Playgolf, which operates Lexden Wood, said “Sarah’s enthusiasm, vast experience and knowledge is unprecedented, and we know that she is not only going to be a major asset to the club, but to everyone that she coaches.

“Her dedication and passion, especially around girls and ladies golf, is unprecedented and it is this that we are so proud to have Sarah on board as part of our team. She is going to make a world of difference to so many golfers – from absolute beginners to elite players alike.”
