John Letters Golf Academy has added respected PGA professional Gary Rushgrove to its Solihull team, further demonstrating its commitment to increasing golf participation.
Rushgrove joins as academy director after three successful years as director of golf and head professional at Athlone Golf Academy, Ireland.
Rushgrove is a fully-qualified PGA pro who has coached a wide range of golfers, from complete beginner to Tour standard, during his 12 years as a professional golfer.
Originally from Herefordshire, Rushgrove turned professional at 21 and began his career at Chestfield GC in Kent, where he grew the junior section from grass roots to a thriving unit.
After five years in Kent, Rushgrove enjoyed a brief stint in the USA playing in winter tour series events, before returning to the UK to focus on his coaching career.
Rushgrove’s arrival at John Letters follows a successful tenure at his academy in Athlone, in which he took over the lease of a dilapidated driving range and transformed it into a modern golf academy.
During the next two years Rushgrove expanded the academy by engaging corporate relations and servicing members and hotel guests from the surrounding four clubs and golf resorts, enabling the business to thrive and contributing to its successful sale in 2011.
He said: “At Athlone I was fortunate to coach some of Ireland’s best, along with a very large base of amateur clients. I now look forward to my new challenge here in Solihull and hope to use my previous experience to help John Letters Golf Academy become the ‘go-to place’ where golfers from all walks of life come to improve their game.”
“My team and I are dedicated to providing world-class tuition, from individual game plans all the way to beginners and juniors just starting out in this great game.”
