Robbie Gethin Associates, the specialist events transportation company, has appointed Philip Payze as its non-executive Chairman.

Payze spent 22 years with the Volvo Car Corporation, latterly as President of Volvo Cars Europe, and was heavily involved in the organisation of both the Volvo PGA Championship and the Barclays Scottish Open. He joins the Robbie Gethin Associates team just after it has won new contracts to provide transportation at both the Eurasia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM in Malaysia and the new Made in Denmark event at the Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort in Farsø, Denmark.

Later this year, the company will also provide transportation at the Ryder Cup at The Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland. This marks the third match in-a-row RGA has provided this service at Ryder Cup matches on this side of the Atlantic.

Payze’s new role will be to focus on maintaining RGA’s ongoing expansion programme and strengthening the company’s senior management team.

“We are delighted to announce that Philip Payze has joined Robbie Gethin Associates as its non-executive Chairman and feel sure that his experience will be of huge benefit to the company,” said RGA Managing Director, Nick Gethin.

“These are exciting times for RGA,” added Gethin. “Competition is tough but with Philip on board we can look forward to a further period of growth.”

“It is a great honour to join Robbie Gethin Associates as its non-executive Chairman,” confirmed Payze. “I have known Robbie, Nick and their team for a number of years and look forward to working with them to expand our activities both in golf and in other sports and the service industry sector.”
