Power Tee Appoints Golf Industry Veteran Jon Sjostrom to V.P. of Sales

Power Tee, the world’s premier automated teeing system and innovator in technology that drives game improvement, golfer engagement and practice facility revenues, has named golf industry veteran Jon Sjostrom its new vice president of sales. He is based in Buford, Ga.

Having held sales management positions at SmartTarget.Golf, Ellwee AB, and Range Servant over the past 13 years, Sjostrom is looking to take his experience in the golf practice industry to another level with Power Tee.

“What excites me most is the scale we can grow this organization,” says Sjostrom, whose godfather was a PGA Master professional and father was a longtime club pro. “Golf has grown especially since the pandemic, and that’s taking golf entertainment to another level and increasing enjoyment for golfers. I’m excited to be able to generate substantial revenue for the facility owners. I have long-lasting relationships with many key stakeholders in golf and they trust me, especially when they’re looking to make large purchases. While everyone in the industry is trying to grow the game, Power Tee helps facilitate hitting more golf balls and better shots, which leads to more fun and more time and money spent at a facility. That leads to more revenue for facilities. It’s a domino effect with no up-front cost. A win-win across the board.”

Helmed by Martin Wyeth and Clare Dibley, Power Tee offers a breakthrough solution in the form of golf hitting stations that feature a proprietary auto-teeing system that always ensures a desirable lie and speeds up practice in teaching sessions with automatically teed balls at desired heights.

Golf industry heavyweights like 2003 U.S. Open champion Jim Furyk and legendary teacher Rick Smith are huge believers in Power Tee, but the biggest fans are the owners and operators of courses and facilities with the driving range space who reap serious benefit from providing their customers Power Tee. These properties that convert from grass suddenly need less mowing and maintenance and also see golfers hitting more balls, bringing more people with them, and spending more in the pro shops and on food and beverages.

Wyeth pioneered this concept in England two decades ago and across the UK, today, an impressive 80 percent of the standalone practice facilities in the UK feature Power Tee hitting stations. In the ensuing years, the Power Tee team has been spreading its magic formula across North America where a still-fast-growing number of properties are discovering the benefits of having reliable practice stations that don’t have the pain-points of tedious or costly grass maintenance. These properties also see the bottom line improve by making their ranges function faster and more efficiently.

“We are extremely happy to have Jon on board,” says Wyeth. “He has an extensive background in the golf range space with many valuable contacts, and has already hit the ground running with Power Tee. We are fortunate to have that level of quality leadership on our sales team. Jon will be invaluable to our continued growth and breakthrough success in the industry.”
