PGA Catalunya Resort, Barcelona, already acclaimed as a World Top 100 Golf Course by Golf World magazine, has appointed Julio Delgado as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to spearhead the estate’s next phase of growth.

Julio Delgado brings a wealth of experience running some of Europe’s leading golf resorts, the most recent of which was as General Manager of Sicily’s sought-after Donnafugata Golf Resort and Spa. Prior to that, he was Managing Director of the La Manga Club Resort and General Manager of La Cala, Spain’s largest golf resort, situated on the Costa del Sol.

“Julio’s track record at world-class resorts speaks for itself,” commented David Plana, PGA Catalunya Resort Corporate Director and CFO. “His business acumen and distinction made him the ideal candidate to help continue to build upon the success, reputation and critical acclaim PGA Catalunya Resort has received to date.”

Miguel Girbes, PGA Catalunya Resort Golf Manager, added: “These are exciting times for us. We are at a crossroads where our Stadium Course is being consistently recognised among the World’s Top 100 Courses, we are becoming the venue of choice for the European Tour Qualifying SchoolFinal Stage – this is the forth year in succession that the event is being held here – and our luxurious residential offerings, which include state-of-the-art sport and leisure facilities, are being snapped up almost as soon as they are completed.”

Commenting on his appointment, Julio Delgado said: “I am delighted to be a part of the PGA Catalunya Resort team and look forward to working with my colleagues to drive the next phase of growth of the resort, and to confirm its position as one of the world’s leading golf resorts and an outstanding international golfing destination.”

“We are committed to investing in and accelerating the considerable success that PGA Catalunya Resort has enjoyed to date through both the number of visitors we have welcomed and the influential global course rankings,” continued David Plana. “We are pleased to have attracted Julio Delgado to head our organisation and lead the next exciting phase of PGA Catalunya Resort’s development.”

Julio Delgado holds a degree in Business Economics from the University of Madrid, Masters in both Hotel Management and Golf Management, and completed the General Manager Programme at New York’s Cornell University.
