Nike Golf’s presence on Tour continues to multiply. The company has announced that Oliver Fisher has joined the Nike Golf Tour Staff after gaining his European Tour card for the 2007 season.
Fisher, who in 2005 became the youngest ever member of the GB&I Walker Cup team at just 16 years of age, has entered an exclusive multi-year relationship with Nike Golf that includes clubs, ball, glove, bag, footwear, apparel, headwear and accessories. To kick off his new relationship with Nike Golf, Fisher will be playing with the most winning driver on Tour, the Nike SasQuatch Tour, Nike Forged blades 3-PW, Nike SasQuatch 3 wood, Nike Pro Combo OS 2 iron, Nike SV Tour wedges 54 and 60 degrees and the Nike One Black ball.
“I have used Nike Golf equipment throughout my amateur career and I’m very excited to become part of such a successful stable of golfers,” said Oliver Fisher. “I am looking forward to my first season as professional and a Nike Golf staff member.”
Oliver, 18, has had a successful amateur career including claiming the St Andrews Links Trophy earlier this year. In October he played for England in the Eisenhower Trophy finishing 6th overall in the group standings and 5th overall in the individual standings, and was runner up in the English Amateur Championship in August. He is a two time Faldo Series winner (2004/5) and last year took part in his first professional tournament, the Australian Mastercard Masters, finishing 13th. He was also runner up in the Brabazon Trophy in 2005.
“It is an exciting time for Nike Golf and Oliver is a great addition to our staff,” said Mike Francis, EMEA general manager for Nike Golf. “He is a young, talented player who is full of confidence and has a great future ahead of him. We are delighted to welcome him to a team of Tour Staff that has been the most successful across all Tours in 2006, and are sure that he will grow in stature and show his full potential early on in his career. He has visited our research and development facility in Fort Worth, Texas, and now has the equipment that will enable him to compete at the highest level. It’s all about providing our athletes with products that help them to perform at their very best.”
