Burneside-based golf club, Carus Green in Kendal has experienced its ‘busiest August ever’, helped in no small part, by the efforts of new Retail Manager, Alex Wood.

Alex, 48, from Windermere, who joined the pro-active team in June, has more than 10-years-experience in the golf industry and has brought his knowledge and expertise to Carus’ golf centre, which opened last October.

Despite the disappointing summer weather, retail sales at Carus increased by 71% on the same period last year with hardware sales increasing by 140%. The new shop, additional personnel and a tighter infrastructure have all been cited as contributory factors in such significant increases.

Together with his adept skills at sales, Alex is focusing on ensuring customers receive the highest level of service at Carus, in addition to managing the new website’s online sales, with the e-commerce part of the shop launching just last month, selling renowned brands such as adidas, Under Armour and Callaway.

“I am delighted to have joined such a professional team at the Carus Green golf centre and am very much looking forward to helping them continue to enjoy the level of success they are experiencing,” says Alex. “My objective is to ensure that Carus becomes the number one destination of choice for golfers in the North of England.”

“We welcome Alex and are very pleased that he has brought his skills to Carus,” said golf centre Director, Andrew Pickering.  “We have a premier team at the golf centre and know that Alex will be an asset to the team.”
