New owners for Bovey Castle

Bovey Castle statement by Peter De Savary

“I have spent the last 3½ years with great support and help from many individuals and organisations in transforming the rundown and disappointing Manor House Hotel into the now internationally acclaimed Bovey Castle. This has been achieved through a lot of hard work and major financial investment. I appreciate everyone’s contributions, particularly the Bovey staff, and believe that Bovey Castle has become a major contributor within the local community and a credit to the British hospitality market.
“The vision has been accomplished and it is now a question of sound ongoing day to day management and the shareholders have therefore taken a decision to accept an offer of purchase from a first class group of English hoteliers being part of a major UK property fund whose principals are well known to me. This transaction will take place immediately and the new owners intend to continue to build upon the business that we have created and provide our guests with the level of hospitality they have become accustomed to and enjoy.
“We shall be retaining the company, Bovey Castle Limited, whose name will be changed to Havana West Limited and we shall retain the ownership of the White Hart, Sandy Park, Coombe Court, Leyburn House and the Plymouth Inn. Under the direction of Ian Solkin, it is our intention to acquire further properties that can be compatible with the White Hart and Sandy Park. We intend, therefore, to build up a group of individual properties and also entertain other diversified investment opportunities in the West Country.
“The “London Outpost of Bovey Castle” will change its name to the “London Outpost” and is not involved or affected by the Bovey Castle transaction. I now look forward to enjoying Bovey Castle as Chairman of the Bovey Castle Club, the position I shall continue to hold.
“My sincere thanks and good luck to everyone.”
