New Management Team at the CMAE

12.20am 5th June 2007 - People

At the recent annual general meeting, Club Managers Association of Europe members elected John McCormack FCCA as their President for 2007 and 2008, and the Board of Directors ratified the appointment of Jerry Kilby FIDM as their new Chief Executive Officer, who will undertake the role on a part-time basis.

John McCormack is the Manager of Castle Golf Club, Rathfarnham, Dublin, and has been a serving member on the Irish Regional Committee with the CMAE and on the European Board of Directors for the past four years. He is a qualified accountant by profession, has extensive experience in the hospitality industry both at home and abroad and has been working in club management for the past eight years.

“I would like to pay tribute to John Duncan of Royal Dornoch Golf Club who has been President of CMAE for the past two years,” he said. “He was a magnificent President and did an enormous amount of work in on our behalf and I would like, on behalf of all CMAE Members, to thank John for his service as President. He, and Neil Jackson before him, has laid the groundwork for where we are today. I am proud to be the President of this association, I thank John for his nomination and I know that he will be a very hard act to follow”.

Jerry Kilby is a Fellow of the Institute of Direct Marketing. He has been a member of the European Board for two years, and has taken up the position of part-time Chief Executive Officer as a part of his golf consultancy business, Kanda Golf.

“I am delighted to be offered the chance to be the CMAE Chief Executive, as this is a very exciting time for the association,” Jerry said. “With the foundation of members in the UK and Ireland, there is now considerable interest from all over Europe from club manager organisations, and it will be one of my priorities to find ways in which we can work closely with our European colleagues and develop a pan-European education programme for club managers.”

The Club Managers Association of Europe is a non-profit making professional association with members involved in the management of sports clubs (golf, tennis, sailing, rowing, rugby, football, and cricket), health & fitness clubs, leisure, city and dining clubs located throughout Europe. The CMAE is closely aligned with the Club Managers Association of America and actively participates with them in the annual world conference for club managers and other international events.

In addition, the CMAE is the pan-European ‘umbrella’ organisation for a variety of national trade associations for club managers and secretaries. National associations can affiliate to the CMAE, thereby giving their membership access to the CMAE education programme and other CMAE and CMAA international activities and events.
