New general manager takes charge at Fairmont St Andrews

Fairmont St Andrews in Scotland has announced the appointment of Kai Winkler as the property’s new general manager.

The German-born hotelier will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of operational functions at the luxury hotel, including providing strategic guidance to achieve Fairmont’s vision and implementing organizational processes for all divisions.

He joins the St Andrews team with a vision and ambition to solidify the hotel’s position as one of the finest golf resorts in Europe.

Joining the Fairmont brand in 2016 as the general manager of Fairmont Quasar, Istanbul, Winkler led the team in establishing a flagship Fairmont property. He then moved on to leadership roles at Fairmont The Palm, Dubai and the Fairmont Golden Prague where he oversaw the start of a €100 million renovation project which will culminate in the hotel’s opening in 2024.

Fairmont St Andrews boasts two 18-hole courses

Winkler brings almost three decades of experience to his new position in Scotland. Commenting on his recent appointment, he said: “I am thrilled and honoured to be joining this internationally iconic country estate as we embark on a new chapter or this much-loved Scottish resort hotel.
