Caversham Heath Golf Club will shortly have a new general manager. Twyford-based Matthew Ackerman will take over the role on February 24.

Ackerman is currently club secretary and manager at The Springs Golf Club, North Stoke, where he has worked since September 2008.

Ackerman previously worked within the financial services sector – with Citigroup at Canary Wharf in London and for Henley-based Perpetual IMS (now Invesco Perpetual)..

A 7 handicapper, Ackerman loves sport and spending time with his family, particularly taking his son to the driving range or taking both his son and daughter to the local parks.

Ackerman said: “Having met with estate manager Robert Wytchard, I was hugely impressed with both the level of investment and support that has been provided to make Caversham Heath one of the best courses in the area. There are also exciting plans, over time, to improve the site, which for members and staff, show the level of commitment the family have.

“Being part of the Mapledurham estate really provides a fantastic base for the golf club to build on. The staff at Caversham are passionate about their roles and professional in their approach. I am really looking forward to working with such a motivated team to deliver a course and club that year on year we can all be immensely proud of.”

Ackerman takes over from previous general manager, Martin Robinson, who left the club at the end of December for a similar role at a golf club in Lincoln.
