The Ladies’ Golf Union (LGU) has invited Past President Maureen Lockett to become Honorary Vice President in recognition of the work she has done for ladies’ golf and her continued loyalty to, and support of, the organisation.
Maureen, who was LGU Chairman in 2002/03 and President from 2009-2011, will be actively involved in supporting the LGU on her appointment as a Vice President.
Always one to put something back into the game she loves, Maureen became involved in golf administration in the late seventies and served as Club Captain and Centenary Lady President at Hallamshire Golf Club in Sheffield, where she is now an Honorary Member, and as Yorkshire County Captain and President.
She said “I am honoured at the invitation to be a Vice President of the LGU, and mindful of the privilege bestowed on me. I have always held a high regard for the LGU and thoroughly enjoyed the many and varied aspects of its work.
I look forward to continuing my involvement with ladies’ golf and maintaining a close interest in the ever changing and modern approach to the game we enjoy.”
Maureen becomes a Vice President with immediate effect.
