Guernsey resort appoints golf ops team ahead of golf course opening.

La Grande Mare in Guernsey has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Nic Bell as Golf Operations Manager, with Sandy Cronje and Paul Chalker joining the Golf Operations team, ahead of the official opening of its new golf course to the public on August 1.

Bell brings more than five years’ experience to the role, most recently from the London Golf Club in Kent, where he completed his PGA Professional qualification. Having begun his career in the golf industry at just 16, Bell has developed expertise across golf operations, retail management, competitions, coaching support and member engagement. During the earlier part of his career, he was selected for a prestigious internship at the Tommy Fleetwood Academy at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, where he gained international experience working alongside leading golf professionals at one of the world’s premier golf destinations.

At La Grande Mare, Bell will oversee the day-to-day operation of the golf department, leading the golf operations team while enhancing the experience for members and guests. His responsibilities include overseeing golf events and competitions, retail operations, team development and working closely with colleagues across the wider resort to deliver an outstanding golfing experience.

Sandy Cronje has joined the Golf Operations team, where she will support guest services, retail operations and the day-to-day running of the golf facility. Sandy brings extensive corporate experience to the role, alongside a strong connection to La Grande Mare. She was a member of the La Grand Mere for seven years in it former guise and served on its Ladies Committee for five years, providing invaluable experience in club governance, member relations and golf club operations.

Also joining the team is Paul Chalker, who takes on the role of Golf Operations Assistant. Paul has more than 40 years’ experience in business and manufacturing and previously held several senior positions at Whalley Golf Club in Lancashire, including club captain and chairman. Having recently returned to Guernsey, Paul will support the day-to-day operation and administration of the golf facility.
